If you’re planning a visit to San Antonio you might as well start practicing saying “I’ll have a Ranger Creek” since the brewstillery announced that it will start delivering its beer very soon to a select group of fine restaurants and bars in the Alamo city. The company currently has four beers lined up for their debut including a South Texas Lager, an OPA (Oatmeal Pale Ale), a Mesquite Smoked Porter, and their La Bestia Aimable (Belgian-style dark strong ale).Personally, we can’t wait to taste the awesomely perfect-sounding (and so genuinely Texan-sounding) Mesquite Smoked Porter which is described as a dark mahogany porter with a nose of “cured meat, pepper, leather, dark roast coffee, and a distinct mesquite wood aroma.”Now before you think yuck based on the descriptor of “cured meat,” remember this is the nose of the beer only, and not an actual ingredient (we’re borrowing the “nose” term from wine aficionados which refers to the “smell or bouquet” of the liquid). We can already imagine the beautiful pairing of this beer with a San Antonio sunset barbecue and accompanied with a selection of blue and peppery cheeses. If we still haven’t won you over and you’re professing “nope, I’m a diehard whiskey drinker,” you’ll be happy to read Read the rest of this entry »

As far as we can see the band’s only Texas venue is Read the rest of this entry »
